Happy Birthday Passing Nightmare

December 28, 2011

Today marks the first anniversary of Passing Nightmare. It may sound cliché, but we’ve come a heck of a long way in the space of a year. Over 40 articles have been published on a variety of topics, expertly written by a wide selection of writers.

Many have commented that 2011 has been quite a year for news and current affairs across the globe, so in retrospect the site perhaps launched at the optimal moment, able to devote space to discussion on the student protests, the August riots, the Occupy movement and the war in Libya.

We’ve also been reviewing films and bringing you the latest in the world of art, culture and media. Something which I hope we can continue to do into 2012 and beyond.

As editor it’s been a fantastic experience to launch a site and see the efforts of everyone involved pay off so handsomely. We experienced some early success, being cited by the Guardian newspaper and a number of influential blogs, which has raised both our profile and our Google rankings.

We’ve also been cited by various other popular sites and in academic work. I have already written about my own experience of launching the site on my own blog, but I just wanted to quickly acknowledge all of the hard work that has been put into the site. Every contribution, no matter how big or small has been greatly appreciated.

Furthermore I also want to thank you all for reading the site and for eagerly sharing the content across your own blogs and social media. Without you, Passing Nightmare might have remained as simply a figment of my imagination.

Happy birthday PN! I’m proud to have been one of the first contributors. I may even write another article one day!
